University Scholarships launched

We're happy to announce that the Brian Mutebi Dream Scholarship Fund has launched its university programme. For the past 5 years, our scholarships have benefited pupils in primary and students in secondary schools. 2015 and the launch of the university scholarship programme is therefore a milestone in our efforts of providing access to education to they who otherwise have no hope of attaining an education.

“This is a milestone,” remarked founder, Brian Mutebi. “The university scholarship programme is particularly important for we know just like it is at the lower levels of education in Uganda, at university, students from the country’s poor population fail to attain university education due to financial constraints.”

When word went around that we’re starting the university scholarship programme, we received many potential candidates including continuing students who are currently struggling to meet their education bills. However due to limited resources, we could not take on as many.

In line with our girls empowerment programme, the first beneficiaries are girls. We prioritize proof of financial need, GBV survivors and teenage mothers. Lisandra Kabagenyi, a GBV survivor, is the first beneficiary. She is studying Bachelors of Laws at Makerere University and wants to become a human rights advocate.  “Knowing that my mother could not afford to pay for my university education, I looked for scholarships. There is no single (scholarship) opportunity I heard of and I did not apply but all my efforts were in vain. I had lost all hope but then came this opportunity. I am so excited,” said Kabagenyi.

Teenage mothers and GBV survivors suffer rejection in the community and despair. The goal of the Brian Mutebi Dream Scholarship Fund is to cloth them with a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

There is a big need in our country. That is why we need more Partners to this cause. We thank you, our Partners, who have made this possible. We hope and trust God to expand this programme as we seek to meet the education needs of our generation.

Recipients of university scholarships get the following:

  • Experience the grace and love of God
  • Tuition and living allowance
  • Opportunity to volunteer on EDOU projects and or partner organisations

Please contact us to support this project. Thank you
