While speaking at the events to celebrate the 2016 winners of the 120 Under 40 at the Population Council in New York City, Mr. Brian Mutebi, the EDOU’s Founder and Executive Director, unveiled the organisation’s newest project designed to promote the health and rights of women in Uganda.

“We want to track and document media coverage of women’s health & rights and establish an online information and data centre on family planning and reproductive health in Uganda,” Brian said. Codenamed “Project Track Women Health”, the project will aid programmes development and targeted advocacy for increased demand for and voluntary use of modern family planning and reproductive health services.

“We cannot underestimate the role of the media in providing information, advocacy and influencing policy for accelerated access and voluntary use of modern family planning and reproductive health services,” Brian argued. “But we have to know what is and isn’t on the newspaper pages and TV screens. This has got to be deliberate,” he stressed.

Project Track Women Health will provide a one-stop information and data centre for journalists, civil society and government.
